Week 4, Term 4.
What a fun week we are having. At home so many children have seen or had fireworks and today we had the school cross-country. Well done Rm 3. You have all done your best and ran very fast. It was a long way too!!!

We had a gumboot throwing competition this afternoon. Mr Pedersen showed us how to throw a gumboot. It was hard but lots of fun
On Friday we are all dressing in ​GREEN.

We start this week off with a visit from The Dog Barking Company who are performing: The Little Kowhai Tree to the Juniors and betty Montford Kindergarten.

We are now extending our learning for some students as we explore counting in 2's, 5's, 10's.
Adding groups together: numbers up to 5, 10, 20.
Subtracting numbers: within 0-10, 10-20.
Does your child know what numbers after and before are; up to 10, 20, 100.

This week in Literacy

Can we make groups/sets of things to 5 and 10?
Can we make 2 groups of things to 5?
Things to do at home:*Count numbers on letter boxes as you walk to school.*Set the table and talk about pairs of things, count in 2's, add up utensils on the table.*Write out numbers on the path with chalk.*Who is the tallest/shortest in the family?*What shapes can you see around you?*Count up all the families fingers and toes - talk about the pattern and counting in 5's.*Start counting from any number. This os called counting on. You may start at 6 and your child will begin to automatically count on instead of always starting at one. When they get good at this begin at 23, 65, 71, etc.
